Alternative career paths for Accounting and Business.

A chance to earn while you learn, an apprenticeship in accounting could be the right career path for you.

Your Opportunity

As part of a BDO apprenticeship we offer a unique opportunity for you to join us in your first job role following A’ levels, gaining unrivalled experience while we support your study towards the Diploma in Accounting Technicians qualification.

During this Higher Level Apprenticeship programme, you will work on a variety of client projects, combining on the job learning with study one day per week at Belfast Metropolitan College.

How long is an accounting apprenticeship?

With a qualification time of 2 years it may be just the alternative to university that you have been looking for.

Your Development

No previous experience of accountancy or business is necessary.  We offer you a clear development path and a mix of support including tailored training opportunities, collaboration with your team, mentoring and regular feedback.

With opportunities to take on new challenges you will find you progress quickly, both in your attainment in your studies as well as more responsibility in your job role.

Life after the qualification

After 2 years you will have a Diploma of Accounting Technicians from Accounting Technicians Ireland, a nationally recognised Level 5 qualification, equivalent to a foundation degree.

The qualification is a potential step towards your Chartered Accountancy qualification, again with the flexibility of blending study and work, with the support of your BDO team of colleagues.  Alternatively, you can choose to take a break from study and continue developing as an Accounting Technician.
