Corporate Social Responsibility

At BDO Northern Ireland we are committed to being a responsible business, both in how we work with our clients but also in terms of how we contribute to the wider community.

At BDO Northern Ireland, support for CSR has been long standing, with a range of initiatives not only raising money for important and worthy activities but also providing an opportunity to reflect and reinforce our business culture and its values.

Fundraising activities that BDO regularly organise include ‘Happy Friday’ events, coffee mornings, Halloween dress up days, volunteering days and once a year members of the firm try and do something a little crazy for our charity.

Some of these ‘crazy’ charity activities have included:

  • White Collar Boxing
  • Dublin Marathon
  • Belfast Marathon
  • Tough Mudder
  • BDO’s Production of the Aladdin Pantomime

Every two years the BDO CSR committee announces their support of one charity around which the fund raising activities during this time will focus.

Since December 2021, BDO Northern Ireland have focused their charity efforts with local charity Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke.

Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke provides expert care and support to anyone at risk of or currently living with chest, heart and stroke conditions.  The charity also fund local ground- breaking research into better treatments, care and prevention.

Today there are over 335,000 people in Northern Ireland living with a chest, heart or stroke  condition, that’s 1 in 5 of us. Working with people of all ages across the province, NICHS has been delivering their services since 1946, carrying out extensive research into how to prevent these conditions, alongside ‘on the ground’ support.

The charity provide the following services and support:

  • Care & Support
  • Health Promotion & Prevention
  • Research
  • Policy & Public Affairs

Their mission is to lead the fight against chest, heart and stroke illnesses in Northern Ireland and their vision is a Northern Ireland free from chest, heart and stroke illnesses.
